A Branch (Branch No 2071) of The British Sub-Aqua Club |
Early season, last year's Club Divers have a few drills left to complete before becoming Sports Divers, and the opportunity to use Axbridge reservoir courtesy of Wessfed. All of these things led to some mad fools leaving the warmth of their homes to travel to Cheddar for 2 days of fresh water hell.
"Who ate all the pies! (and drank all the port)"
Luckily the sun shone and there was no precipitation (I hesitate to say rain as I am convinced it would have been snow). There was only really one fly in the ointment, the water was 4-5°C. This made it very uncomfortable for everybody, even those in dry suits were coming out with hands that wouldn't operate buckles etc.
Sun? Sun? Whatever next?"
"The Sports Diver trainees 'sit this one out'!"
"Come on in the water is fine"
Many thanks to Suzanne and Jake for their hospitality on Saturday night, and to Ranjit for cooking up a killer chilli. It was a shame that some of those present had problems getting out of bed on Sunday morning, but that last bottle of port seemed like such a good idea at the time. (Who dat? Ed.)
"Dave lusting after Paul's equipment!"
"Looks nice doesn't it?"
