A Branch (Branch No 2071) of The British Sub-Aqua Club |
After the long trek down the M4 in the pouring rain with Amy sound asleep in the back of the car and Andrew trying to make me drive the wrong way down the motorway we finally found the B + B in deepest darkest Wales. On arriving in the dorm we were greeted by a rendition of "something" by the snoring congregation as everyone had arrived hours earlier.
Not too early a start on the Saturday and after a full English breakfast (or bowl of custard for some!!) we headed of to the sea. It was a grey, wet and windy day and we all kitted up in the car park and then thankfully Dave drove his van down the hill with all the kit in.
The first dive of the day and we headed right out of the harbour and had a good dive along by the wall there where there were scallops galore. Only Suzanne and Anthony made it all the way along. While waiting in the boat for the others to finish their dive the dive pair on the boat next to us surfaced minus a weightbelt, torch and fin which had just been hired.
We headed back in for lunch and to try and warm up a bit and go on an air run where Dave ended up buying a drysuit (obviously had had enough of the cold!!) so it was just me to struggle on with a cold, wet semidry before we went out again.
After slipping over in the water and having to be helped up by Nigel we went left out of the bay in the direction of the seals. Suzanne got her camera ready for this dive and the seals, feeling a bit camera shy, suddenly disappeared. Due to a leaking drysuit we had a short dive and surfaced to find the same 2 divers from the morning had had a few problems and Kevin, aka SuperKev, had leapt to the rescue.
So an eventful day was had and we headed back to the guesthouse to shower before going for a well deserved meal at one of the pubs in the village. Back at the guesthouse later and it was time for a boys v girls pool match where, sorry boys, but yes the girls won again!!
An early start for a Sunday and after Andrew had finished his custard we set off. The morning dive was near the North wall of Skomer where some of the guys decided to go on a long dive along the wall while Suzanne and I had a relaxing pootle around until Suzanne felt this pulling on her fins. As the camera was in it's case on the shore a seal had come to play.
I sat out of the afternoon dive and kept Amy company on the shore but was informed that a pretty good time had been had by all.
